Doug Wilton ≈ In Memory of The Electric Lady

.

.

Monday was her last day on Earth
as herself

she managed to avoid the lightning that passes thru wires
by stripping them from her house
all that perhaps a distraction
from the knowledge that there is another kind of
lightning

that builds inside the body until it cannot be contained
a lightning that we fear but come to know as
the very quick of our life
when it is ready

we cling to the shell until we see
that it has become too frail and worn to contain us
then we breathe out our last breath and
silently as distant lightning we

burst

into the sky

  1. Jim Moore says:

Not to the strong is the battle,
Not to the swift is the race,
Yet to the true and the faithful
    Vict’ry is promised through grace.

In memoriam to my ‘ships in the night’ friend – my world just got smaller
